Transaction Network Services (TNS) is extending its global stock exchange coverage by establishing a link to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

By connecting to TNS’ Secure Trading Extranet, the ASX is able to attract greater attention from major financial institutions beyond the country’s boundaries, not only in the Asia Pacific region, but also the rest of the world.

“The Asia Pacific region’s trading capability is expanding at a rapid rate,” says Jeremy Johnston, general manager international sales and market information at the Australian Securities Exchange. “TNS’ Secure Trading Extranet will enable ASX to deliver data to an extensive global marketplace. We hope to utilise TNS’ global Secure Trading Extranet to further expand our range of services within the coming months.”

The ASX spans the markets for corporate control, capital formation and price discovery and functions as an operator, supervisor, central counterparty clearer and payments system facilitator.

“We are delighted to be supporting ASX,” says John Owens, vice president of exchanges and ECNs for TNS’ Financial Services Division. “The partnership demonstrates the increasing demand in the Asia Pacific region for TNS’ low latency, secure and fault tolerant financial community connectivity services for trading and market data.

“This connection not only promotes ASX’s ability to nurture international growth, but also gives our existing customers the opportunity to access one of the Asia Pacific region’s most prominent exchanges.”
