Trading Volume On Spanish Stock Exchange Up 3.5%

In April trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to 77.53 which represents a year on year increase of 3.5%.

The accumulated trading volume posted since January has come in at 347.82 bn, 25% up on 2005. The number of trades was over 27% up on the year.

Trading on the Latibex market came in at 55 million, which represents a 19% increase from the same month in 2005.

Accumulated trading volume on the Latibex market up to April was 259 million, 60% up on 2005. The number of trades on this market grew over 73% on the year.

The return on the IBEX 35 index in April was 0.64% and the accumulated growth came in at 10.79%. The return on the IBEX 35 with dividends for the same period was 11.78%. The monthly returns on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP and IBEX SMALL CAP were 17.18% and 24.97% respectively. The accumulated return on the FTSE Latibex TOP index up to April was 11.17%.

Trading volumes in April 2006 on the warrants and certificates market came in at 189 million, which represents a 13% increase over the same month in 2005.

The accumulated figure up to April was 940 million, 31% up on 2005. The number of trades increased by 44%.

In April Futures and Options trading through MEFF came in at 2.26 million contracts, 23% up on last year. It is worth noting the heavy trading activity posted by stock options, at 1.02 million contracts and IBEX 35 Futures, at 466,537 contracts, 3% up on the year.

The accumulated quarterly figure was 16.3 million contracts, 45% up on the same period last year. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in Stock Futures, at 7,6 million contracts (+64%), Stock Options, at 4.7 million contracts (+55%) and IBEX 35 Futures, at 1.9 million contracts and a 14% increase on the year.

Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in April reached 63.19 bn, leaving an accumulated trading volume of 270.27 bn at quarter-end.

New issues in April came in at 43.16 bn , leaving an accumulated volume at the end of the month of 167.42 bn.

The outstanding balance at the end of April was 491.85 bn. Accumulated net financing provided during the first quarter reached 49.44 million.

Trading volume on SENAF in April was 9.75 bn, leaving an accumulated figure for the first four months of the year of 68.06 bn.
