OCC’s total cleared contract volume in March reached 362,379,835 contracts, a 14% rise year over year. Year to date, OCC’s cleared contract volume is up 10% with 1,108,482,532 contracts in the first quarter of 2014.
Futures cleared by OCC rose the most in March, reaching 6,809,436 contracts, a 34% gain over March 2013. OCC’s average daily cleared futures volume in the first quarter was 298,081 contracts, which was also 34% higher than the first quarter of 2013. OCC’s year-to-date cleared futures volume is up 37% with 18,182,964 contracts in 2014.
Exchange-listed options also fared well in March, with trading volume reaching 355,570,399 contracts in March, a 14% gain from March 2013. For the first quarter of this year, average daily options trading volume rose 8% higher than the first quarter of last year, and year to date, total options volume is up 10% with 1,090,299,568 contracts in 2014.
However, OCC’s securities lending CCP activity dropped 1% in new loans year over year with 95,094 transactions. Year-to-date stock loan activity is up 1% from 2013 with 290,788 new loan transactions in 2014. The average daily loan value at OCC in March was $93,771,464,543.
