Toshio Akiba, (51) who previously supervised Euroclear Bank’s Tokyo representative offices, has joined Clearstream’s Tokyo office as deputy Chief Representative, in charge of all large relationships in Tokyo as well as responsible for Japanese relationships worldwide.
Akiba was responsible for all of Euroclear’s business activities and clients in Tokyo since 1996. Prior to joining Euroclear, Akiba worked for more than 16 years with JPMorgan Bank. Akiba holds a degree in International Economics from the New York University.
Tokyo is part of Clearstream’s extensive network in Asia (Hong Kong, Dubai, and Singapore). In 2007 Clearstream became the first international central securities depositary (ICSD) to offer settlement of interest bearing Japanese Government Bonds (JGBs) outside Japan.
