Torchetti Leaves HSBC for SGX Post-Trade Role

Singapore Exchange (SGX) has appointed Nico Torchetti as the new Head of Post Trade Services effective August 1.

Torchetti will be responsible for spearheading the strategy and managing the execution post-trade services provided to retail investors, as well as the broker and bank custodian segments of SGX’s members. He will also build capabilities for multiple asset classes for SGX’s central depository (CDP).

“[Torchetti’s] knowledge of both the European and Asian securities and derivatives markets and customer base will help us deliver on SGX’s business strategy and commitment to being an Asian Gateway and facilitating connectivity to and from Asia,” said Muthukrishan Ramaswami, SGX president.

Torchetti has more than 15 years’ experience in both Europe and Asia, covering front and back office management of banking and brokerage operations, including equity and derivatives trading and clearing. Prior to SGX, he served as the global head of Product Development for Sub-Custody and Clearing with HSBC in Hong Kong. He joined HSBC from Deutsche Bank where he led the Direct Securities Services, Hong Kong and oversaw broker dealer coverage for Asia.
