In a move to drop share prices and attract more retail investors to invest in the Japanese markets, the Tokyo Stock Exchange is changing the criteria for delisting and section transfers.

The TSE announced last week it will give listed companies preferential treatment regarding delisting and section transfer criteria if they reduce their share price per unit to less than JPY 500,000.

Preferential treatment will only be applicable to companies whose trading volume was above a certain level for the specified period of time.
