The Tokyo Commodity Exchange has suffered a problem in its new trading system.

Connectivity problems arose at the shared network gateway at the Exchange since around 10:30 a.m. May 12. A statement from TOCOM said that price data had not been updating for some market participants

The system was down for just under four hours as TOCOM attempted to figure out the problem. Even though the cause of the problem remains unidentified, trading resumed in the afternoon.

On May 7, TOCOM went live with a new trading system from NASDAQ OMX.

In April of 2008, NASDAQ OMX signed a contract with TOCOM as technology provider for their New Generation System, with NTT Data serving as prime contractor and system integrator for the implementation.
