One of the worst-kept secrets in the securities services industry was officially confirmed last night with the news that ABN AMRO Mellon had appointed Tim Steele as Head of PR and Media Relations at the joint venture bank in London. He succeeds Robert White, who has joined Xchanging, and Beth Dowling, who has taken on a new role at business end of the bank.

Previously a self-employed journalist, Steele has covered the securities services business for the past decade, helping to launch International Custody & Fund Administration (ICFA) magazine before moving on to edit Global Investment Services (formerly Clearing & Settlement). After a successful tenure as managing editor of GSCS Benchmarks, Tim went freelance, contributing articles to a number of publications (including Global Custodian) plus editorial consultancy services to custody banks and other institutions.

Steele, who is based in London, reports to ABN AMRO Mellon’s Silvia Maulini, Head of Marketing & Communications.

“We are delighted to welcome Tim aboard,” says Nadine Chakar, Chief Executive Officer of ABN AMRO Mellon. “As one of the leading journalists covering our business, his track record and reputation speak for themselves. His knowledge of the modern securities services offering, as well as the legal, regulatory and infrastructural opportunities and challenges that the industry must embrace going forward, will be invaluable to us as we look to continue to grow our presence across Europe and Asia.”
