TIBCO Software has released TIBCO Enterprise Management Advisor, a software application that aims to help organisations understand the relationship between business processes and the technology infrastructure that supports them.
Part of a strategic initiative called Enterprise Management Integration (EMI), TIBCO Enterprise Management Advisor works with enterprise management solutions, such as HP OpenView, to provide business managers and IT staff with the information they need to analyse developing situations, identify and initiate the best course of action, and take steps to ensure business continuity.
TIBCO says that Enterprise Management Advisor allows a business process to be altered dynamically when a business-impacting condition in an IT systems has been identified. For example, if there is an infrastructure problem at a large financial institution, such as a server going down, TIBCO Enterprise Management Advisor can alert IT staff so they can take steps to bypass that server before critical business processes are affected.
TIBCO says many business operations follow patterns that, if identified, may allow for pre-emptive behaviour that could prevent problems from occurring, or allow businesses to fully leverage emerging opportunities. “Whereas real-time business is about responding faster than competitors, springing into action to address a customer need, and capturing opportunities ahead of the competition, predictive business is about avoiding problems altogether, anticipating customer needs and growth opportunities, and proactively addressing them,” says a TIBC spokesman. “The ability to understand the relationship between business activities and the IT infrastructure that supports them is one of the key components of predictive business.”
