New Radianz CEO Howard Edelstein has capitalised on old connections – he is the former head of Thomson Financial ESG – to strike a deal with Thomson Financial, by which the rival to Reuters and Bloomberg will use RadianzNet to distribute its Thomson ONE screens.

Thomson ONE is the open alternative to Reuters and Bloomberg that incorporates not only Thomson Financial’s content and applications such as First Call, SDC Platinum and Autex, but third party data as well. Existing clients of other Thomson Financial products including Datastream will also benefit from the Radianz deal.

“We are pleased to be able to offer clients in Europe and Asia access to Thomson ONE through RadianzNet’s high-performance infrastructure,” says Thomson Financial’s European Commercial Director, the former Chase, State Street and BBH custodian banker David Bilb. “This complements our global network by leveraging RadianzNet’s connectivity to nearly 10,000 financial services sites worldwide.”

Radianz sees the deal as further confirmation of the neutrality of its communications infrastructure, since it is used already by Reuters and Bloomberg, as well as another 100 service providers. In fact, clients that already use RadianzNet for accessing or distributing one or more financial services will now be able to use Thomson ONE and other Thomson Financial applications.

“Thomson Financial is a top provider of market data and information services to the global financial industry,” says Radianz’s President and CEO P. Howard Edelstein. “Our agreement is significant and a milestone in Radianz’s history because it reinforces the neutrality of our infrastructure, which is designed to empower all financial institutions worldwide to communicate with their clients.”

Thomson ONE is an open application and data distribution platform that aims to allow clients to both Thomson and third parties to distribute content and tools without incurring the high cost of ownership or taking delivery of unwanted features. It can also be tailored to suit the needs of different audiences. Thomson ONE Analytics is aimed at the institutional investment market, Thomson ONE Equity is aimed at the institutional equities market, and Thomson ONE Banker is aimed at the investment banking market. Thomson Financial says it will launch Thomson ONE Yield for fixed income users and portfolio management and investor relations product suites in Europe and Asia in 2004.
