Canadian shares ended the week on a positive note, outperforming U.S. counterparts. Investors had to digest mostly positive economic data in the U.S. and soft fare at home. An upgrade for Nortel Networks and discount-buying in resources provided support, while quarterly reports from U.S. bellwethers were mixed.
The S&P/Toronto Stock Exchange Composite Index rose 80.89 points, or 0.66%.
