The PMI Group, Inc. has appointed Andrew Cameron to the position of Group Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary.

Cameron was promoted from his previous role as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. He replaces Victor Bacigalupi who has retired from the company. Cameron will be responsible for managing all of PMI’s legal affairs including advice and counsel to The PMI Group board of directors and senior management, as well as managing the activities of outside counsel.

“Andy brings tremendous depth to this role, with broad experience in both government and private practice,” says Steve Smith, CEO of The PMI Group, Inc. “He will play an integral role overseeing our legal department and as a member of the leadership team as PMI pursues opportunities in the future.”

Cameron joined PMI in 1998. Prior to joining PMI, he was Senior Counsel in the Enforcement Division of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and prior to that, an associate at Morrison and Foerster, both in San Francisco. He received his JD from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
