The Bank of New York Mellon, a global leader in asset management and securities servicing, has appointed Jai Arya, executive vice president, as head of client management for Asia, effective from 1 January 2008.

In his new position, Arya will continue to be based in Singapore and will report to Kenneth A. Lopian, senior executive vice president and head of developing markets, who is based in New York.

Arya has over 20 years client management experience and has been with the company since 1986 in a variety of roles in India, Taiwan, Korea and Singapore. Most recently he was head of client management for the Southern Asia region. This encompassed South East Asia, India and Australia.

In his new role, Arya’s geographic responsibilities have been extended to cover Northern Asia as well. The Northern Asia region was previously led by Andrew Gordon, executive vice president, who was recently named head of broker-dealer & alternative investment services for Asia, also effective from 1 January 2008.

“With growing global interest in Asia, with regional markets opening up and with the increasing sophistication of institutional and individual investors, the region is a critical growth opportunity for The Bank of New York Mellon. Excellence in client service is at the heart of The Bank of New York Mellon’s philosophy. Jai inherits a strong platform and under his leadership, we are confident that we will continue to help clients grow and succeed in rapidly evolving markets across Asia,” says Lopian.

The Bank of New York Mellon has been conducting business in the Asia-Pacific region for over 50 years.
