Asset manager Thames River Capital appointed Gly Jones as its new chief.

Glen held the chief executive position at Gartmore, and prior to that he was chief executive of Coutts Group where he pioneered the development of hedge fund of funds.

Jonathan Hughes-Morgan, one of the founding executives, will remain the managing director, and Charlie Porter will become president of the company.

“I am delighted that in Glyn we have secured one of the most respected and experienced business leaders in the asset management industry,” Porter said. “I have known him well for many years and during this time we have experienced a real meeting of minds in terms of shared values and operating philosophies with regard to how our industry will develop into the future.”

The 7-year-old company has grown to manage funds in excess of $7.2bn spanning seven sectors, including hedge funds, property funds, and long-only funds and hedge funds of funds.
