Northern Trust veteran Teresa Parker was appointed today as CEO of the bank’s Asia-Pacific region, replacing Gregg D. Behrens, who will retire Nov. 30.
Parker comes to the Asia-Pacific region from Northern Trust’s London office, where she has held leadership roles over the past 15 years, most recently as Executive Vice President and head of client servicing for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
“Northern Trust’s presence in Asia-Pacific continues to grow as we commit new resources and expertise to serve our expanding client base in the region,” Northern Trust President and CEO Frederick H. Waddell says. “Teresa has a proven track record of leading partners across different regions to meet the needs of large, sophisticated global clients. Her background is well-suited to our Asia-Pacific clients and to Northern Trust’s plans for growth in this region.”
Parker, who joined Northern Trust in 1982, has held leadership positions in global custody operations including serving as the head of worldwide asset servicing, securities lending and COO for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Based in Singapore, Parker will be responsible for all business activity in Northern Trust’s Asia-Pacific offices, located in Bangalore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Singapore and Tokyo.
Behrens is retiring after 35 years at Northern Trust. Named Northern Trust’s first CEO of the Asia-Pacific region in 2007, he established a regional management structure across all business functions, including asset servicing, asset management and operations.
