Teradata Corporation, a company solely focused on data warehousing and enterprise analytics, is ranked for the seventh time in the Intelligent Enterprise 2009 Editors’ Choice Awards as one of the elite dozen global companies that matter most to intelligent enterprises.
In 2008, Teradata released its most significant database version yet, Teradata 13, and it launched a new family of powerful analytical platforms from entry-level data mart appliances to data warehouse appliances to active enterprise data warehouses, all at attractive price points. T
he Teradata Purpose-Built Platform Family expands Teradata’s market reach by addressing a wide range of business intelligence and analytic needs for new customers as well as across existing customers’ enterprises.
The current releases of the Teradata Platform Family include the Data Mart Appliance 551, Extreme Data Appliance 1550, Data Warehouse Appliance 2550 and the Active Enterprise Data Warehouse 5550 platform. The Teradata Platform Family addresses a wide range of customer needs from the “Load and Go” requirements of a department to the most complex and sophisticated data warehouse customers in the world.
To help companies jump-start their data warehouse deployment, Teradata also introduced Teradata Accelerate in 2008. These bundled comprehensive data warehouse packages include hardware, software and services that enable companies to rapidly deploy and quickly realize business value from their data warehouse investment.
Teradata Accelerate packages also protect a customer’s investment in the Teradata technology by leveraging existing skills sets and knowledge while also providing the portability of extract, transform and load, data model and applications from one platform to another as the customer’s needs evolve.
“Teradata is a stalwart and remains the leader in large-scale data warehousing, but it has shown new flexibility and aggressiveness in a changing market,” says Doug Henschen, editor-in-chief, Intelligent Enterprise, part of the InformationWeek Business Technology Network.
“Teradata has kept its enterprise data warehousing ideology in check as it has introduced a gradation of platforms from appliance to data mart to enterprise data warehouse.”
