The Central Bank of China (CBC) in Taiwan has agreed to allow Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFIIs) or General Foreign Institutional Investors (GFIIs) to open cash accounts – in their custodian bank’s name – with the custodian’s government bond clearing bank. This means QFIIs and GFIIs can trade Taiwanese government bonds in without violating the Ministry o Finance’s “one cash account only” restriction.
