SWIFT, the financial messaging provider for more than 8,300 institutions, has announced the appointment of Eileen Dignen as Head of Banking Initiatives Americas. She will report to Chris Church, Chief Executive of the Americas and Global Head of Securities, and will be a member of the Americas Management Team.

Eileen has over 20 years experience in international banking, both in credit and transaction services. Prior to joining SWIFT, she spent eight years at Citi, most recently as Managing Director with Citi Global Transaction Services, Head of Global Payments for Financial Institutions.

Products under her management included USD clearing, global clearing, CLS, and cross border solutions for banks. She was responsible for developing new product features and services, as well as Global Market Management for banks.

As Head of Banking Initiatives, Eileen will develop and grow SWIFTs products and services in payments and trade for the Americas markets. Among her responsibilities are to work with industry bodies (e.g. NACHA) and market infrastructures (e.g. TCH, Fed) in addition to developing medium-term strategic goals and initiatives. The group will also be aligned with the SWIFTs Markets Group to ensure that business drivers for the Americas are incorporated in global strategy.

Eileen brings a wealth of expertise and knowledge of the banking industry, a core market for SWIFT, says Chris Church, chief executive Americas and global head of securities. Her expertise will help us explore untapped opportunities that will benefit our customers businesses and the SWIFT cooperative as a whole. Prior to her roles at Citi, Eileen served for over 15 years in various business development, lending and product roles with CoreStates/First Union, before the Wachovia acquisition. She was also a Vice President with PNC Bank for three years with responsibility for management of specialized sales groups focused on the middle market and large corporate relationships.

Eileen has a BSBA in Marketing and Business Administration from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and has completed postgraduate studies in International Business at the University of Valencia, Spain.
