SunGard Securities Processing has launched a web version – version 9.0 – of its InTrader portfolio management, clearance and settlement system.

“The new Web-based version of InTrader becomes available at a time when reducing cost and increasing efficiency are ever more critical to the financial community,” sa ys Herb Hesch, president of SunGard Securities Processing’s InTrader unit. “InTrader 9.0 eliminates many of the communications costs of remote access, offers a more intuitive platform for navigating the system and improved scalability, and will provide a more streamlined approach for developing and delivering the latest capabilities to our customers in the future.”

SunGard says InTrader’s new Web-based user interface replaces the system’s traditional menu-driven interface, providing an intuitive navigation for users and a platform for future development, such as more interactive, Java-based pledging capabilities. InTrader’s architecture aims to separates the user interface from business logic and databases, thereby making future development of core capabilities easier. With InTrader 9.0, licensed customers can provide remote users access to the system from any location with just an Internet connection. In the past, InTrader required emulation software and dedicated phone lines in order for customers to provide access to remote users.

Boston-based Eastern Bank Capital Markets, an InTrader ASP customer since 2000, has been an InTrader 9.0 acceptance tester for the last six weeks. “InTrader 9.0 in an ASP environment minimizes the technical infrastructure required to access the system, making it cost-effective and seamless to deploy,” explains John Mullin, vice president at Eastern Bank Capital Markets. “InTrader 9.0’s new navigation makes it easier to use, so new personnel will be immediately comfortable on the system and hit the ground running. We can get to information faster and with fewer clicks, enabling us to significantly reduce the amount of keystrokes needed to complete a task, and therefore the number of opportunities for an error to occur.”

InTrader 9.0 leverages the latest Java technologies and runs on industry standard Web server hardware.
