SunGard has been certified as an international market data provider by the Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (BVC), meaning SunGard now can source market data directly from the exchange and distribute it globally via its SunGard Global Network.

The network provides multi-asset order-routing capabilities for institutional asset managers, hedge funds and broker-dealers.

SunGards Valdi connectivity and trading platform went live in Colombia last November.

BVC is a trading destination not only for trading participants in Latin America, but increasingly for European and American financial institutions, says Maria-Jose Ramirez, commercial vice president at Bolsa de Valores de Colombia. As a growing player in the international community, BVC can leverage SunGards technology to help increase our network and improve the reach of our market data globally.

Philippe Carr, global head of connectivity of SunGard capital markets business, adds: Access to Bolsa de Valores de Colombias real-time data and brokerage trading connectivity through Exchange members can help SGN members increase their trading efficiencies and take advantage of the growth opportunities in this emerging market.

Colombias 2012 GDP is projected to grow by 4.7%, according to the IMF, as international interest in the emerging market increases particularly in light of the upcoming Mercado Integrado Latino-Americano (MILA), the new pan-Latin American alliance of stock exchanges which also includes the exchanges of Chile, Peru and Mexico.

For more on the alliance of Latin American exchanges, see Integrating with MILA, Global Custodian, Summer Plus 2011.
