Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced the launch of the Sun Cluster Open Storage Program, offering customers an expanded choice of third-party storage devices that support its Sun Cluster solution. As part of the program me, Sun is working with storage vendors, including EMC, IBM and Network Appliance, to enable the self certification of their respective storage arrays. The idea is to offer customers greater choice in storage without losing quality. “In today’s diverse IT climate, customers want increased choice in configurations without compromising on availability and quality,” says Ann Wettersten, vice president, software systems marketing, Sun Microsystems. “With the Sun Cluster Open Storage Program, customers now enjoy a wider choice of storage arrays that seamlessly interoperate with Sun Cluster. The Program enforces high quality and joint support giving customers the assurance that their Sun Cluster deployments will continue to deliver unmatched levels of high availability.”
