Stu Hendel will be returning to his roots at Morgan Stanley in 2007 as global head of prime brokerage, the company recently reported.

“We are delighted that Stu Hendel has chosen to return to Morgan Stanley,” says Jerker Johansson, global head of equities and co-head of institutional sales and trading at Morgan Stanley. “Stu had been instrumental in helping to build our prime brokerage business into the recognized market leader today. His experience and skill make him perfectly suited to continue our momentum in this business.”

Hendel is currently chief operating officer at hedge fund Eton Park.

In addition to running prime brokerage, Hendel will also work with senior management in the Equities and Fixed Income division on defining and executing strategic direction for Morgan Stanley.

“Stu’s innovation, content, passion and recent experience only serve to reinforce our commitment to providing to our valued clients the best prime brokerage platform and service possible,” says the internal memo announcing his return. “We are thrilled to have him back.” Hendel left his position at Morgan Stanley in 2004 as co-head of U.S. prime brokerage to join Eton Park.
