Stockbroker Jonathan Auerbach enjoys turning a profit, and in his latest venture, turning a profit may come from turning a steering wheel.

As part of what some have called the world’s richest road rally for classic automobiles Auerbach began chasing a $100,000 cash purse on June 24 in the 24th annual Great Race across the US.

The race, which starts in Philidelphia, PA and ends in San Rafael, CA, pits more than 100 teams of two in cars that are at least 45 years old against one another and requires them to pass through 15 checkpoint cities across the US.

Co-founder of the global brokerage firm Auerbach Grayson & Company, Auerbach and his son will be driving his fireapple-red 1952 Lazzarino as he passes through 14 states in just 14 days, chalking up roughly 4,100 miles.

As he navigates the American blue highways, Auerbach will face competitors driving such classic cars as a 1911 Velie H1 Racetype, a 1916 Hudson Speedster, a 1929 Ford Dry Lakes Roadster, a 1937 Ford Cabriolet, a 1957 Buick Century and a 1960 Chevrolet Pick-up.
