The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has prohibited the net settlement and margin trading of any of the 49 securities listed in its rehabilitation (REHABCO) sector. The ban will apply from 16 March 2004. Only 17 of the 49 stocks are traded actively at present.

Existing rules do not prohibit the net settlement and margin trading of securities listed under REHABCO sector, so traders can settle the payment of purchase and sale of the same securities on a net basis the same day. The change means speculative traders will now incur funding costs.
