Avior Computing, Inc., today formally launched in the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) market, in addition to appointing Steve Katz to the board of directors.
Widely recognised as the first chief information security officer (CISO), and former CISO at Citigroup, Merrill Lynch, and JP Morgan, Katz has a distinguished record of achievement spanning 25 years in the management of information security and privacy.
Katz serves on the board of directors of several information security start-ups, and is an executive advisor to Deloitte. He was the first Chairman of the Financial Sector Information Sharing and Analysis Center, and continues as an advisor to the group. Katz has also testified before Congress numerous times on information security issues. A CISSP, he is also a member of the Americas Advisory Board for Information Systems Security.
Avior is the developer of the BenchMark compliance process management platform. In use at large insurance companies, financial institutions, and service providers, Avior BenchMark is a secure compliance process management application that standardizes the collection of compliance and other assessment data from diverse sources such as suppliers, divisions and departments.
BenchMark automates what is commonly a manual, spreadsheet-based procedure in many organisations. It uses advanced analytics to structure, monitor and document compliance and other business processes. Avior delivers BenchMark as a software as a service with industry and regulation-specific Knowledge Modules that simplify the process of assessing compliance.
Avior has successfully market-tested the BenchMark application with numerous financial organisations. With the addition of Katz to its board, and the continued development and success of BenchMark, Avior is now focused on delivering highly differentiated offerings in the rapidly growing market for GRC software.
“After heading up security operations for some of the most complex financial services organisations, I understand the challenges they face across multiple regulations, and look forward to the opportunity to help shape and work with an emerging leader in the compliance and risk software market. With innovative technology and a solid management team, Avior addresses real industry compliance process pains and issues,” says Katz.
“Having an executive of Steve Katzs calibre join our board of directors validates our approach and technology. Katzs insight into the needs of large financial organizations and his broad contact base within the industry will be invaluable to Avior,” adds Steve McCalmont, CEO, Avior Computing.
