State Street Corporation has appointed Maureen Miskovic as chief risk officer.

Miskovic will lead a global team of more than 250 multi-disciplinary enterprise risk professionals that support State Streets business, customers and operations worldwide. She will report to Ronald E. Logue, State Streets chairman and CEO and join the companys Operating Group, State Streets senior-most strategy and policy-making team. With this announcement Miskovic will step down, effective immediately, from State Streets board of directors.

State Street has achieved considerable global growth over the past five years and in creating this role, we intend to focus the intellectual capital and leadership skills of this highly experienced industry veteran to advance the strategy for our risk organisation at a time of unprecedented complexity and change within the financial services industry,” says Logue.

Miskovic, a British citizen, has served in a number of senior executive management roles across both business and corporate functions in leading financial organisations including Lehman Brothers, where she served as chief risk officer as well as a member of the firms Investment and Diversity Committees. Prior to this appointment she held the position of Treasurer at Morgan Stanley in London responsible for capital planning, bank relations and cash management for its European and Indian businesses. Before Morgan Stanley, Miskovic spent eight and a half years at S.G. Warburg in London working initially within its capital markets group and then as Group Treasurer and head of risk management. During her tenure at S.G. Warburg she was nominated to the Board of Warburg Securities.

Most recently, Miskovic served as senior advisor to the Eurasia Group, a research and consulting firm focusing on political risk analysis and industry research for global markets. She was named to NRG Energys board in 2005 and chaired its Commercial Operations Oversight Committee. In 2006, she was elected to State Streets board of directors. Miskovic graduated from Kings College at London University.
