State Street Global Markets, the investment research, trading and securities lending arm of State Street Corporation, has appointed Raymond Pestana to the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Portfolio Solutions Group. Pestana, 32, joins State Street Global Markets as a senior transition manager based in London and will report to Rick Boomgaardt, managing director and head of the transition management team for State Street in EMEA.

Prior to joining State Street, Pestana was a director with Bank of New York Mellon’s Transition Management Team, where he was responsible for managing large, complex portfolio restructurings. Before this role, he co-founded the Citi Transition Management organization after transitioning from the firm’s Global Portfolio Execution team. He began his career in fixed income trading at the South African Bonds and Futures Exchange.

“With more than 13 years of experience, Raymond brings a global perspective and broad capabilities in complex portfolio restructurings to our portfolio solutions group,” said Ed Pennings, senior managing director and head of the portfolio solutions group at State Street Global Markets. “As the complexity of transitions increase with the volatility of the market, Raymond’s skill set will be a valuable addition to our team of professionals.”

“This appointment further strengthens our team of transition managers following the hiring of Kevin O’Neill and Samina Vernon, who joined State Street’s London transition team last year, bringing a combined tenure of more than three decades of transition management expertise to State Street,” said Boomgaardt.
