State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the fund management arm of financial services firm State Street Corp., have named Mark Lazberger as the president of its non-US business.

“Before the appointment, Lazberger was heading SSgA’s international business, which saw assets under management nearly double to $418 billion by the end of 2005 from two years earlier,” says a spokeswoman for State Street.

SSgA managed $1.5 trillion as of the end of June 2006.

The firm also announced other internal staff moves. Kanesh Lakhani has been appointed managing director of SSgA’s UK business and Andrew Astley has been named chief operating officer for Europe. Greg Ehret will lead sales and distribution in Europe and SSgA operations in Brussels, Dubai and Italy.

SSgA has also hired Tony Rochte from rival Barclays Global Investors, part of British banking group Barclays Plc, as head of US intermediary sales and client service.
