State Street Corporation have given grants that have totaled USD1.5 million to four local nonprofit organisations. The State Street Foundation, Inc. awarded the grants to the Asian American Civic Association, the Boys & Girls Club of Boston, Mass Mentoring Partnership, and the Salvation Army.

State Street’s grants will be used to increase the capacity of the organisations, either through infrastructure improvements or through initiatives to enhance the scope and quality of programming. The State Street Foundation focuses its funding in three areas: community improvement and development, educational programming, and human services. In addition to these four grants, the Foundation provided more than USD5 million in philanthropic support to other charitable organisations in Boston and Quincy during 2006.

“These four grants are providing critical support to address the needs of these important community organisations,” says George A. Russell Jr., the president of the State Street Foundation, Inc. “Ultimately, this will help them fulfill their missions and lead to improved outcomes for their clients. We look forward to following the progress of these initiatives over the next few years.”
