State Street has hired a seasoned FX prime brokerage expert as its new global head of trade services, marking the latest move by a custodian to bolster its foreign exchange capabilities.
Kate Lowe joins State Street in a newly created role from Standard Chartered in London, where she was global head of FX prime brokerage for almost two years.
Lowe’s role will involve leading a team to develop operation and workflow solutions for GlobalLink, State Street’s e-trading platform which sits within the Global Markets business.
These solutions will centre on matching, settling and reporting capabilities, both in-house and through partnerships with third-party platforms.
She also served as global head of product and strategy for FX prime brokerage at BNP Paribas, and global head of FX prime brokerage account management at Morgan Stanley.
She will report to Greg Fortuna, head of GlobalLink Solutions and David Newns, global head of GlobalLink Execution Services.
“Our trade services business is one of the leading matching and settlement systems in the world, and Kate’s experience will be instrumental as we develop our investment analytics and reporting capabilities to further strengthen our global offering for our clients,” said Fortuna.
The appointment of Lowe is the latest move by State Street to bolster its FX trading capabilities with FX prime brokerage experts.
In October last year it rehired James Reilly, the former co-head of FX prime brokerage at Morgan Stanley and global head of FX sales and trading at Cantor Fitzgerald, as global head of Currenex, State Street’s FX execution platform.
