State Street Corporation , the provider of financial services to institutional investors, announced the call for entries for the eighth annual State Street lnstitutional Press Awards recognising outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting. Building on the great success of previous years, the 2009 Awards will honour the contribution of journalists for investment, pensions and investor services and technology issues over the past year.

The Awards will recognise excellence in journalism in the following seven categories:

1. Journalist of the Year Pensions Issues

Submissions for this award should include articles covering pensions developments in the UK, institutional investment management or UK pension policy developments.

Sub-categories: 1) national newspapers; 2) trade publications; 3) online/wires

2. Journalist of the Year Investment

Submissions for this award should include articles covering investment issues within institutional fund management, financial markets or economic research.Sub-categories: 1) national newspapers; 2) trade publications; 3) online/wires

3. Journalist of the Year Investor Services & Technology

Submissions for this award should include articles covering financial technology and data, back and middle office topics.Sub-categories: 1) trade publications

4. Award for Best Newcomer

Submissions for this award should include 2 articles demonstrating depth of understanding of institutional issues in a variety of styles. This is for journalists who have spent less than 2 years in the industry.

5. Award for most Innovative Media Outlet

Submissions should be made by publications or media outlets (e.g. websites, online newsletters) that have developed their service in an innovative way (e.g. expanded geographical reach or distribution channels, or launched new titles)

6. Award for Outstanding Contribution to Institutional Journalism

To be awarded at the discretion of the judging panel.

Once again, State Street has invited a panel of judges comprised of respected figures from the U.K. and European financial services industry to choose the winner in each of the seven categories.
