The Spanish Exchange has begun trading 343 new warrants issued by Socit Gnrale, marking the biggest issue since in one day the creation of the market. With these new issues, the number of warrants on the market to date amounts to 1,597.

The underlying assets for the warrants are domestic and foreign shares and indices, exchange rates and commodities.

The Spanish indices IBEX 35 and FTSE Latibex TOP will act as the underlying assets for 52 warrants. As for the international indices, 6 issues were made on the Dow Jones Industrial Average, 7 on the Dow Jones Eurostoxx50, 7 on the Nasdaq 100, 11 on the Nikkei 225 and 7 on the Xetra.

As for exchanges rates 20 issues were made on the Euro / Dollar exchange rate of which 11 are call warrants and the rest put, with a broad price range.

The 134 warrants issued on Spanish shares are linked to the following assets: Altadis, Banco Popular, BBVA, Endesa, Gas Natural, Iberdrola, Inditex, Repsol, Santander, Sogecable, Telefnica, Telefnica Mviles and Unin Fenosa.

As to the warrants issued on foreign shares, 70 were issued on the following underlying assets: Alcatel, Apple, Arcelor, Cisco Systems, Deutsche Telekom, Ebay, France Telecom., Google, ING Direct, KPN, Microsoft, Nokia and Pfizer.

As for the commodities, 20 warrants wee made on the Brent futures contract and 5 on the Troy Gold Ounce.

Among the issues are call and put warrants, all of which work in the same way as American warrants, that is, they are exercised automatically by the issuer at any time, except the Brent underlying asset and the gold, which are European style and are exercisable on the expiry date.
