In December trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to EUR 50.35billion, which represents a year on year increase at 5.2%. In 2004 the value of share trading hit a record high of EUR 636.86 billion, up 28.80% on the whole year 2003. Daily trading volume in 2004 was EUR 2.53 billion.
In December trading on Latibex reached EUR 29 million, a 17% increase over the same month in 2003. The value of trading for the year 2004 reached a record high at 366 million euros, 29.5% up on the previous year.
The return on the IBEX 35 index in December was 4.46 %. The return on the IBEX 35 from January was 17.37 %, that on the IBEX 35 with dividends was 21.09 % and that on the FTSE Latibex Top index was 5.35%. This index posted an annual increase of 28.09%.
Taking into consideration the upward trend followed by these indices over the last two years, their accumulated return was as follows: 50.42% for the IBEX 35, 60.06 % for the IBEX 35 with dividends and 79.63% for the Latibex Top.
Trading volumes in December on the warrants and certificates market came in at EUR 155 million, which represents a 72% increase over the same month in 2003. Accumulated trading volume in 2004 broke the record high posted in 2003 at EUR 1.90 billion million euros, 12.37 % up on 2003.
Equity futures and options traded through MEFF in December 2004 came in at 4.524 million contracts. Trading volume in IBEX Futures was 350.012 contracts and in Futuros Mini 78,760 contracts.
In 2004, accumulated trading volume in futures on the Ibex 35 index was 4.354 million contracts, up 23 % on the year. Trading volume in Futuros Mini was 1.182 million contracts, 10% up year on year.
Corporate Debt trading on AIAF in December reached EUR 52.35 billion, a 34.2 % increase compared to the same period last year. Accumulated trading volumes posted in 2004 was EUR 566.59 billion, 49 % up on the year.
New issues in December came in at EUR 41.674 billion, 72.9% up on the same month in 2003. In 2004 the accumulated volume of new issues was EUR 328.20 billion, 44% up on 2003.
The outstanding balance at the end of December was EUR 307.90 billion, 55.7% up on the same period in 2003. The value of the net capital raised by the private sector was EUR 110,16 billion, 55.6% up on 2003.
Trading volume on SENAF in December was EUR 30.85 billion. Accumulated trading volume in the year 2004 was EUR 401.750 million.
SENAF’s market share of all trading volume posted by the Spanish electronic trading platforms is 79.95 %.
