South Korea plans to extend workers’ retirement age and lower the age for job entry, as the country is expected to experience a severe labour shortage from around 2010. According to Asia Pulse, in a high-level government-ruling party policy co-ordination meeting, the government said it will push to extend workers’ retirement age by around five years to 65 by 2033, and revise part of the education system to advance the job entry age by two years from the current 25, as part of “Vision 2030,” the government’s broad policy package to address the problems of the aging population and economic polarization..
