Sophis, a provider of cross-asset, front-to-back portfolio and risk management solutions, has appointed Christian Backe as its new sales director for the Nordics region. Christian joined Sophis in 2010 and will be responsible for new business development and client relationships in the Nordic region.
Before joining Sophis, Christian held a variety of senior roles in organisations within the financial services sector, including Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and Jackson Consulting.
Christians key responsibility will be to develop Sophis presence and market share in the Nordics, targeting all financial institutions including banks, asset managers, hedge funds and pension funds operating in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
Christian commented: There has been a shift in thinking within the investment and asset management marketplace in the Nordics: there is a recognition that a more advanced strategy is required to manage funds, especially pension funds and that more flexible technology is required. There is also a need for more sophisticated risk management and transparency, both of which we can contribute as part of our solutions.
Sebastien Roussotte – COO UK and Middle East, Sophis, said: We are delighted that Christian made the decision to join Sophis. His background in investment management and knowledge of the Nordic region is an excellent fit for us. He will play a key role in making sure that we look after our clients in the Nordics as we build the business in the region.
The big area of demand will be from pension funds and fund managers who recognise that they have reached the limits of their existing IT platforms and require more scalable and flexible systems to ensure they meet the needs of clients and the regulators.
