Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has expanded its presence in Europe, setting up an office in the Netherlands.

The new office in Amsterdam will support its operations in the Netherlands and across the Nordic Region, including Iceland.

The expansion is being supported with two appointments; Roel van de Wiel has been appointed as commercial director for the Netherlands and Nordic region, while Bastiaan Aalders has joined as head of business development for the Netherlands and Nordic region.

Van de Wiel previously worked for State Street Sector Solutions, where he was responsible for business development in the Netherlands, Nordics and Belgium. Aalders joins from State Street Global Services, where he was EMEA region head of asset owner products.

Both will report to Mathieu Maurier, global head of sales and relationship management at SGSS.

Commenting on the new appointments, Maurier said: “These appointments are important milestones in SGSS’ development plans in Europe. They will allow SGSS to strengthen its coverage in the region, where the Societe Generale group is already present, by offering clients its whole range of services, in particular the externalisation of non-core activities linked to regulatory requirements.”
