The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has selected the SIX trading platform for money market activities, which were previously executed on the Eurex platform.
SNB will use SIX’s platform to execute all monetary policy transactions and to auction Confederation bonds and registered money market claims. The platform provides trading, securities settlement and payment processing in 13 different currencies, and it’s available to all Swiss and European financial institutions that wish to participate using existing SNB facilities.
SIX is also planning to add more functionalities and market segments in the fall of 2015, and the firm is also planning to enhance the platform’s collateral management features.
“We are proud to be operating the central Swiss money market trading platform used by the financial institutions and the SNB. As part of the Swiss value chain, the SIX money market trading platform constitutes state-of-the-art technology that will help to maintain the Swiss financial system’s competitive edge,” says Dr. Urs Rüegsegger, group CEO of SIX.
