Tony Johnson of RBC Global Services has hired Simon Shapland a second time. After luring the former ABN Amro Mellon sales chief to join him at the ill-fated BISYS operation in London, Johnson has now secured Shapland as regional vice- president, Europe & Middle East, at RBC Global Services.

As the head of the sales and relationship management group in London, Dubai and Luxembourg, Shapland will be responsible for driving RBC’s European strategy.

“With 20 years of experience, Simon’s strong leadership style, his extensive sales and relationship management skills, along with his comprehensive understanding of the securities industry, make him perfectly suited for his new role,” says Tony Johnson, vice-president, Global Head Sales and Relationship Management, RBC Global Services. “This appointment further strengthens RBC’s commitment to deliver a superior client service experience and he will be a valuable addition to our team.”

For the past seven years, Shapland has worked at ABN Amro Mellon as the first vice-president, regional sales and marketing manager. He also held the position of senior vice-president, head of Europe Sales for BISYS Investment Services. Prior to joining the securities and fund administration industry, Shapland spent 13 years in sales and relationship management roles in the IT industry.
