The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) appointed T. Timothy Ryan Jr., formerly of JPMorgan, as its chief executive, effective immediately.

Ryan will spend the remainder of the month visiting with regional members and other major constituents and will be based in SIFMA’s New York office starting in February.

Ryan was previously the vice chairman of Investment Banking for Financial Institutions and Governments at JPMorgan Chase and a was member of the Investment Banking Coverage Management Committee.

Prior to joining JPMorgan, Ryan was a director of the Office of Thrift Supervision, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and was a principal manager of the Savings & Loan cleanup.
