In light of fundamental infrastructural changes in securities markets across the globe, such as TARGET2-Securities in Europe and derivatives regulations in various markets, custodians have had to reevaluate the way they are structured and how they approach their businesses.
Satvinder Singh, global head of Trust & Securities Services at Deutsche Bank, outlined how Deutsche Bank is approaching those changes.
Singh says clients now want a choice of either bundled products, asset servicing only or a combination of the two depending on market volumes and complexity of the market in question. That compares to a typical model of strictly bundled services.
So it really is about having the word Im using is optionality, so that different clients can use different things that work for them, Singh says. And what its making us do is really re-look at the way were configured, the way were looking at our business, and say, Do we tick all the boxes from a client perspective?
