Robert Mills, 30, has joined the Securities Industry Association (SIA) research department as vice president, director of industry research. Mills will contribute to the department’s publications, including Research Reports and Securities Industry Trends, and supply economic research to support the association’s initiatives.

Mills is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs master’s programme in economic policy and management. He previously worked in the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit, developing responses to international policy issues.

Having started his career with Oliver, Wyman & Company, a financial and capital markets consultancy, Mills also spent several years in Brussels working on international financial issues at the European Commission and with a think-tank.

“We look forward to Robert’s analysis of issues facing the U.S. government and regulators today,” says Frank Fernandez, SIA senior vice president and chief economist. “His background in international finance will also enable us to provide SIA members with a unique perspective on emerging market issues and European Union policies.”

Mills graduated from Oxford University with first class honours. He reports to Fernandez.
