PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) appoints Sheldon Laube as the firm’s first Chief Innovation Officer.

Laube, a PwC partner and leader of PwC’s Center for Advanced Research, is charged with accelerating innovation throughout PwC by stimulating ideas, projects and services that support the continued growth of the firm and its clients. Laube already sits on the US Strategy Committee and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team for PwC.

Laube started his first company, Consultants in Computer Technology, in his college dorm room to provide custom programming services to Case Western Reserve University departments and administrative offices. His next venture delivered financial advice to middle-class investors via computers — a revolutionary concept in the early 1980s.

After PricewaterhouseCoopers acquired his firm, Laube was asked to become Chief Information Officer, a position he held for more than a decade. After leaving PricewaterhouseCoopers, he had additional success with two more start-up companies, before returning to PwC to lead its Center for Advanced Research.

“Sheldon is a truly unique professional with the ideal skills to continue a long history of innovation at PwC,” says Dennis Nally, chairman and senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. “Particularly in these difficult economic conditions, our clients are looking to us for innovative solutions to their business challenges. Sheldon’s appointment is designed to help designate the right resources from within the practice and increase the speed of implementation by reducing the barriers to innovation.”

“Successful organizations allocate their human and financial resources in pursuit of innovative solutions,” says Laube. “Innovation is embedded deep within the PwC culture; from how we develop and train our people to the solutions that are developed for clients every day. I’m excited to lead this critical effort.”
