Share trading on the Spanish exchanges up to October this year has exceeded that posted throughout 2003. Accumulated share trading volume up to today has reached EUR 512.57 billion.
This accumulated trading volume increases by more than 11-fold the aggregate share trading volume posted a decade ago. With this figures, daily share trading so far this year averages EUR 2.49 billion, which represents an increase of 26% compared to 2003.
The return on the IBEX 35 in 2004, as of October 22, was 8.20%, higher than that on other European indices, such as CAC 40 (+3.60%), DAX (-0.80%), FTSE 100 (+3.10%), MIB 30 (+7.30%) or the EUROSTOXX 50 (+ 1%).
