Societe Generale Securities Services (SGSS) has become an associate member of the Africa and Middle East Central Depositories Association (AMEDA).
Established in April 2005, AMEDA is a non-profit organization comprised of CSDs and clearing houses in Africa and the Middle East. Its main objective is to act as a forum for the exchange of information among its members and to promote best practices in services such as securities depository, clearing, settlement and risk management.
AMEDA also supports local markets in adopting securities market regulations and helping them bring their operational standards and procedures into line with international standards and regulations, and to serve as a channel for dialogue with other organizations worldwide.
A statement from SGSS said the proximity to local CSDs and clearing houses ensures that SGSS is able to accompany its clients in African and Middle Eastern countries in their own growth, by providing products and services which correspond to their specific requirements in the context of their individual markets.
