SEI Investments announced today that its Alternative Investment Fund Services unit has hired Michael Leahy as its Head of Alternative Investments Operations.

Leahy joins SEI after eleven years with Goldman Sachs’s Hedge Fund Strategies group – a $4.4 billion hedge fund-of-funds manager located in Princeton, New Jersey.

As Treasurer and Head of Operations at Goldman Sachs Princeton since 1997, Leahy directed cash management, hedge activities, foreign exchange execution and portfolio management for the firm’s commodity index product and credit management activities. Prior to that, he managed the foreign exchange execution desk and operations department. Most recently, Leahy focused on arranging financing for hedge fund investments and expanding the firm’s foreign exchange execution business. He also holds NASD Series 3, 7 and 63 licenses.

At SEI, Leahy will manage a substantial alternative investments operations team consisting of both hedge and private equity fund specialists, and will focus on improving operational efficiencies as well as continuing to build a fund administration business.

“We are very excited to have Michael join us as a key member of our alternatives team”, says Stephen Meyer, Head of SEI’s Alternative Investment Manager business. “His proven skills and experience fit perfectly into our move towards providing our hedge and private equity clients a broader and more integrated set of business solutions, from core fund valuations through to trade processing and distribution support.”

SEI began providing back-office solutions to the alternative investment industry in 1998 and today offers front and back office services to over 200 hedge and private equity funds structured as limited partnerships and offshore companies, as individual stand-alone funds as well as funds of hedge funds, incorporated in the US and overseas.
