With more than 1 million securities trades in one month, the month of January set a new record for securities trading in Denmark, with private investors increasing their share of trading to more than 20%- the highest level during the past years.

Both share trading and trading in unit trust certificates also set new records in January. Compared to January 2005, the total number of securities trades rose with 73%, totalling to 1,152,500 trades.

The number of trades in Danish shares increased with 77% amounting to 700,657 trades and the number of trades in unit trust certificates rose by 123% to 350,930 trades.

The number of trades in Danish bonds experienced no growth from the previous month, holding steady with 100,863 trades.

On the share market, trades by private investors’ rose to 20.5%, making it the highest ratio registered during the past years. This marks a shift from private investment primarily selling shares in the telecom segment and bought shares in the industrials and financials segments.
