Securities Finance Veteran Jane Milner Retiring from SunGard

Securities finance industry veteran Jane Milner is retiring from SunGard.

Milner has been an executive at SunGard since 2001, most recently as head of strategy for securities finance and enterprise collateral management.

At SunGard, she had also held client services and marketing roles for SunGard’s securities finance solutions.

Last year, Global Custodian interviewed Milner upon SunGard’s Apex winning the magazine’s inaugural award for best securities finance solution for the prime services market. At that time, Milner shared her perspective, saying, “Instead of existing as silos, albeit closely linked to one another, firms now want solutions that look across a broader range of products in order to gain efficiencies and optimal results.”

“I think a similar sort of thing is happening not only in terms of collateralized transactions such as stock loan and repo, but there is also consolidation within certain aspects of OTC derivatives and exchange-traded derivatives business management as well.” she said.

As such, Apex expanded its footprint to facilitate enterprise collateral management and optimization

“We’ve expanded the functional scope of our products because of the consolidation needs in the market. This is often driven by a desire to reduce the total cost of ownership and increase efficiency for clients. To achieve optimization of asset usage, there needs to be a broader view across a number of products. Separate business silos are becoming closer, and therefore organizations are looking for solutions to address all of those business needs out of a single box, rather than have to go for a totally separate solution for each element,” she said.

This trend has continued into 2014, with a bank in Asia Pacific earlier this year selecting Apex Collateral for enterprise collateral management.
