The UK Securities & Investment Institute (SII) is to accredit its first training provider in Hong Kong.

Simon Culhane, Chief Executive of the SII will be signing the agreement with John Jarrett, Director of Mindtheme in Shanghai this week.

Mindtheme will initially teach the SII’s Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) programme in Hong Kong where at present there are no existing back office qualifications. The examinations will be undertaken via computer based testing which means candidates will receive their results instantly and can arrange for a re-test a few days later if required.

“We are delighted to be offering the first back office qualification for the Hong Kong market,” says Culhane. “Our discussions with our members has demonstrated that there is a real need for a professional qualification in this vital, and often unrecognised, area.”

The qualification is recognised by both the UK Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC) and the UK Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).
