SecFinex is using technology developed by Cognos, a company making business intelligence software, to deliver tailored trading reports to customers in real-time. The online securities financing platform is using Cognos’s business intelligence solution, combined with a secure, virtual private network (VPN), to send raw data and standardised reports instantly to its customers around the world. Traders are then able to customise and publish the reports to meet individual user needs. The project took three months to complete.
“The Cognos solution has already improved the working lives of our clients, in terms of speed and quality of information provision,” said Mark Sear, chief software architect at SecFinex. “We needed a solution with all-round functionality that the traders would actually use, not just one that the IT department thought was the latest ‘must-have’ technology. The feedback from users has been very positive and I expect to see full return on investment within the next few months.”
