Newton Investment Management Ltd said it has appointed Mark Scott as Head of Institutional Business.

Scott will report to Helena Morrissey, Chief Executive Officer of Newton. In this newly created role, Scott will be responsible for leading and developing the company’s UK institutional sales, marketing, and client servicing strategy.

A graduate of Colgate University, New York, Scott was formerly at Deutsche Asset Management where he was Head of European Institutional Sales and Marketing. Prior to this he spent three years as Senior Vice President at Putnam Investments, Inc., and from 1986-1997 held a variety of senior positions at consulting firm Watson Wyatt & Company. During this period Scott led marketing and client service programs for consulting to multinationals on pension issues, and led Watson Wyatt’s US practice to success in Nelson’s 1995 survey of ‘America’s Most Influential Pension Fund Consultants’, a spokesman for Newton said.

“Mark’s impressive track record in asset management, and extensive experience and knowledge of the investment consulting industry, align perfectly with our aims of strengthening relationships with the industry’s leading investment consulting firms, and deepening the understanding of Newton’s distinct investment philosophy and approach,” Morrissey said.
